Our story

Tephra is a creamy face and body scrub made with fine Icelandic volcanic sand. It gently lifts away dull, dead surface skin, then leaves what is underneath soft and bright.

Earth's oldest exfoliant

On the south coast of Iceland, lava meets the cold Atlantic and shatters into fine black sand. People have used mineral grit to clean and smooth skin for a very long time, long before anyone called it skincare.

We took that idea and made it kind. The sand is milled fine, then folded into a creamy base with conditioning oils and a fresh, green scent of cucumber, lemon and cut grass. It does its job without leaving skin tight.

Fire made the sand. Time made it fine. You just have to wash with it.

New brand, established approach

Tephra has only just launched, so we are not going to show you a star rating we have not earned. Instead, we will show you the formula and the science. Volcanic-sand scrubs are a proven, flagship format at major skincare brands, and the ingredient is well established for polishing and smoothing skin, not a novelty.
